Pool owner regulations in NSW

August 23, 2013

POOL OWNERS REQUIRED TO REGISTER POOLS NSW

In 2012, the Swimming Pools (Amendment) Act came into force.  The Act was passed by the NSW Parliament and requires all home owners of backyard pools to register their pools by 29 October 2013.

Home owners can make the application online at www.swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au

Any pool owner who fails to register their pool by the deadline may be fined.

A home owner who has a pool will also be required to provide a valid compliance certificate in order to sell or lease a property from 29 April 2014.  The compliance certificates will be issued by local councils who may charge a fee up to a maximum of $150.00 for inspections.
