Facebook news ban

You may have heard the announcement recently that Facebook has banned all news outlets and similar pages from using the platform for posting content.

This decision has been made in response to the Federal Government attempting to institute media bargaining laws whereby social media platforms must pay Australian news outlets for their content.

As the story has unfolded, it has become apparent that the parameters used to classify ‘news outlets and similar pages’ are quite broad.

Unfortunately, Tonkin Drysdale Partners, as well as many other organisations that aren’t directly related to news and current affairs, including health authorities, community and alert-based pages, have been impacted.
