Umina Beach Men’s Shed
Our Partner, Darrell Pannowitz, has assisted to establish The Umina Beach Men’s Shed in Birdwood Avenue, Umina, providing members the opportunity to get together socially, make new mates, share knowledge and learn new skills as well as producing items that benefit the community in general.
Generous donations have created the provision of first class equipment and facilities for use in the shed. The Men’s Shed is owned by Peninsula Village of which Darrell is the honorary chair. At present the membership of the shed is 55 and growing. The Men’s Shed is open to the whole of the community. Mr Pannowitz was interviewed for an article in the Law Society Journal and he said:
It’s a place for blokes to meet and have a cuppa
Some of the men have lost their wives or are lonely. Some are encouraged by their partners to attend. All are very happy to have the facility, where they can do not only woodworking and welding, but cooking and computer training, tell stories and learn from each other”
Our thanks to Peninsula Village, Newcastle Permanent Building Society, Darrell and other generous donors for their contribution in establishing the much needed Men’s Shed.
